UPDATES - Capital Campaign Exterior Construction September 15, 2019: It has been several years of hard work and generous contributions from our members. Finally our vision for the exterior will become a reality mid-August. Please join us for a dedication to our new look on September 15th after the service (11:30am). July 28, 2019: For the week of 7/29, the main entrance will be open and the back entrance will be closed. All should be completed by the middle of August except for finishing a punch list. The building is looking great and a big thank you to all that have contributed to this important project. APRIL 30, 2019: The Capital Campaign Committee met with MSI to discuss scheduling and finalize details. Sub-contracts have been issued, parts have been ordered and permits requested. Unfortunately the glass for the front entrance and new windows will take about 6 weeks before they are ready. MSI is now targeting a start date of about June 3rd. Once we have a final schedule, we will let you know. A big thank you for all that have contributed or pledged to the campaign. We still have a need for monies to brighten the interior with new ceiling tiles, pew covers, carpeting and paint. |
ANOTHER LEAP OF FAITH: Capital Campaign for LCUUC
In the short history of LCUUC, we have taken several leaps of faith. In 1997, with our founding, in 2006 with the purchase of our own building, and in 2013 with the call of our first full time minister, Reverend Amy Shaw. Each time we have taken a leap of faith we have successfully better served our community.
In 2017, the condition of our church home dictated that it was time once again for another leap. The siding deteriorated to the point where there may be water leaks, and our boiler was increasingly difficult and expensive to service.
Instead of focusing merely on major maintenance, we saw an opportunity to create a space that reflects our vibrant LCUUC community. A building which serves as a beacon to our neighbors and encourages others to join us in our UU diversity of faith and traditions

WHAT IS THE STATUS? To date, we have raised in pledges and contributions over $380,000. With your contributions, we replaced the boiler heating system in 2018. We now have a system which is reliable, does not require as much maintenance, and is much more energy efficient. We have developed plans, along with MSI General, our design build contractor, which include an exciting new look to the exterior with new 50-year siding, new windows including adding additional windows to bring more light into the building, and new front and back entrances. The congregation voted on the new front entrance which will be more modern and welcoming. Construction on the exterior is scheduled to begin in Spring of 2019. We originally planned on replacing the triangular windows, new carpeting, painting, new pew covers, and replacing the ceiling tiles. We are currently involved in discussions about how to use the remaining funds. |
WHAT IS MY PARTICIPATION? A big thank you to all that have pledged and contributed to this important campaign. We still need additional funding if we wish to proceed with both the new triangular windows as well as the carpeting throughout, painting the interior, new pew covers and ceiling tiles.
