BIG PICTURE MONTHLY FORUMS
Lake Country Unitarian Universalist Church

Next Event: April 25, 2025 5:30 – 8:30 pm
With the world undergoing a profound transformation (Apocalypse), those in the Big Picture Monthly Forums audience, along with most everyone else in the world today, are faced with increasing collective challenges: social, economic and political upheavals, natural disasters, global unrest, warfare between nations, and grave new technology dangers that are lowering their consciousness and creative power due to digital addiction.
Our Forum guest speakers might very well help the audience see that this profound transformation is none other than a radical collective shift in consciousness with its comprehensive, inclusive, holistic approach to integrate diverse perspectives, methodologies, and experiences into a more complete understanding of any topic or situation in the world today. We sincerely hope this is the case.
Those attending our Big Picture Monthly Forums are hearing from our noteworthy guest speakers directly, intimately, without microphone or PowerPoint slides, and with reflective dialog between themselves and the guest speaker. They’re offered a deeply transformative evening of presence and timeless wisdom, a chance to step out of the everyday rush and into a space of transformative peace and clarity, awakening to the fullness of life.
This is more than just an event – it's an invitation to experience a life-altering shift into integral perceptiveness.
The evenings begin with food, beer, wine, ice cream, then a guest speaker, audience dialog one hour forum, followed by audience singing and dancing to live musical accompaniment, to songs that are drawn from the prayers and poetry of numerous traditions of the world. All words and steps are taught.
A suggested $10 donation at the door is appreciated.
This inaugural Big Picture Monthly Forum’s philosophical provocations are offered by guest speaker, Mark C.E. Peterson, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Religious Studies at UWM and past president of the International Society for the Study of Religion, Nature and Culture, with insights on a Joseph Campbell quote:
“Apocalypse does not point to a fiery Armageddon but to the fact that our ignorance and our complacency are coming to an end. Our divided, schizophrenic worldview, with no mythology adequate to coordinate our conscious and unconscious -- that is what is coming to an end. The exclusivism of there being only one way in which we can be saved, the idea that there is a single religious group that is in sole possession of the truth -- that is the world as we know it that must pass away. What is the kingdom? It lies in our realization of the ubiquity of the divine presence in our neighbors, in our enemies, in all of us.”
