Religious Education for All Children & Youth |
Strengthening Unitarian Universalist identity, engaging in social action, and using our UU Principles as a guide to help us make important life choices is the focus of our Religious Education (RE) Program. In both children and youth classes/meetings, participants engage in open-minded conversations with the goal of learning to respect and to accept others' opinions when they differ from their own.
The success of the RE program depends on a reliable group of enthusiastic volunteers who form lasting relationships with participants of all ages. Committee members, teachers, and assistants are parents, non-parents, church members, and friends. All families with children or youth registered in our RE classes are asked to volunteer in the RE program as RE committee members, teachers or special project helpers. The program is free of charge because of the vital support of all volunteers.

Frequently asked questions about Children's Religious Education (FAQs)
We want your experience with us to be as comfortable as possible, so here’s some information that may help....
Q. How do I register my child/children in the Religious Education program?
Register at REGISTER NOW! Q. How do I know what online classroom my children will be in? LCUUC has four classrooms based on grade level: Spirit Play class is 4k-1st grade Grade school class is 2nd-5th Grade Middle school class is 6th-8th grade High School class is 9th-12th grade Q. Do I need to be a member of LCUUC for my child/children to attend Religious Education classes online this year? You do not need to be members of the church to register, but all who frequently use the religious education program are expected to make a financial contribution to LCUUC. You will also required to register your child/children with the Director of Religious Education and to volunteer to support our RE programming. Q. Can the children bring a guest? Yes, they can invite a friend join an online Zoom class anytime. |
Q. Will I have to pay for RE program?
No, however we do require that at least one adult from each family unit volunteer during the year to assist in RE program to allow LCUUC to continue to offer RE classes at no cost to our members and visitors. Q. How will I know what will be taught each Sunday? See the current year Curriculum Descriptions or speak the Director of Religious Education, Chris Rollins. Q. Are there other parents I can talk with to find out their experience? The DRE will be happy to help you connect with other parents with kids in the program. Q. Does my child have to Zoom every Sunday? Consistent attendance helps children build on previous experiences and develop rapport with classmates and teachers. Because of this, we ask that families commit to attending their registered RE session on a bi-weekly basis. |
Religious Education Committee
The LCUUC Religious Education Committee (REC) consists of members dedicated to ensuring the delivery of a high-quality RE program. The REC sets the goals and objectives of the RE program and oversees the many individual levels to insure continuity and completeness of the religious education provided. The REC consists of the Director of Religious Education, the committee chairperson, and liaisons from each classroom in the program. The REC meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30pm - you are welcome to attend to learn more about the program or provide feedback. If you would like more information about the REC or you would like to volunteer on that committee, go to RECom.
