Mission Statement:  We envision a world in which all people make reverence, gratitude, and care for the Earth central to their lives and society. Our purpose is to inspire, facilitate and support personal, congregational and denominational practices that honor and sustain the Earth and all living beings. We affirm and promote the seven principles of the UUA, including: Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

The Ministry for Earth Committee provides direction in research, reflection and action in response to environmental challenges. It informs the congregation of current environmental issues, both within the LCUUC community and without. The committee educates us on how to alter our environmental impact for the
better, and offers ways to help the broader community do the same.

The committee holds an annual service to present current topics and suggestions for how we might respond to them. The members stay active in the community to support, coordinate with, and participate in environmental improvements with the following organizations:
  • UUA Ministry for Earth (http://www.uuministryforearth.org/)
  • John Muir Chapter Sierra Club (www.sierraclub.org/wisconsin)
  • Waukesha County Transit Coalition
  • Lake Country Cares Cab (http://lcccabs.com)
  • Union of Concerned Scientists (http://www.ucsusa.org/)
  • 350.org (https://350.org/)
  • Waukesha Green Team (https://www.waukeshacountygreenteam.org/)
  • Northwest Earth Institute (https://www.nwei.org/)
  • Greener Oconomowoc (http://www.greeneroconomowoc.wildapricot.org/)
The committee meets and reports monthly to the appropriate Board liaison and also submits a budget request to the Finance Committee in April of each year.
