Sunday Mornings for Children and Youth
Every Sunday, children and youth participate in the first portion of the worship service, which starts at 10:00am. They hear the congregational news and announcements, enjoy the opening music, join in the congregational singing and listen to a “Story for All Ages”. At approximately 10:20am, they exit together with their Religious Education (RE) teachers and go to their RE classrooms for structured, curriculum-based classes. Subjects include Unitarian Universalism and its history, Judeo-Christian heritage, world religions, our connectedness with the natural world, and social justice. RE classes dismiss at about 11:15am.
If you are visiting with your child or children to LCUUC for the first time, an RE Greeter (a member of the RE Committee who wears a special badge) will be available before each service to answer your questions about our RE program and help you and your child find his or her classroom. Visitors with children who will be visiting an RE class, are encouraged to come at 9:45am (15 minutes before worship) to be welcomed and orientated to the correct classroom.
Nursery care is available for infants through 3-year-olds from 9:45am to 11:15am. Children are signed in and out by their parent/guardian and are picked up from the nursery room immediately after the service.
