Middle School Transitions
Transitions 1 – Identity for 5th and 6th Graders will be offered in early 2019. It is a tradition in our church to do a Coming of Age program with our children as they move into the middle school years. This program is called Transitions 1: IDENTITY. The purpose of this curriculum is to help the children develop self-awareness in the context of both time and religious community here at Lake Country Unitarian Universalist Church. At the same time, the program builds a sense of community among the youth and strengthens their connection to the church community. The culmination of this program will have the youth involved in a Sunday service on March 3,2019
Our Whole Lives (OWL)
Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. With a holistic approach, Our Whole Lives provides accurate, developmentally appropriate information about a range of topics, including relationships, gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual health, and cultural influences on sexuality. We will be offering 7-9th grade O.W.L. in the Fall of 2018 & 10th-12th grade O.W.L. in Spring 2019. Eligible families will receive notice via email for age appropriate youth from the D.R.E. We are also excited to announce that LCUUC will be joining forces with UUUC of Waukesha to jointly offer OWL to youth. Trained/certified teachers from both congregations will be traveling to LCUUC every Sunday from 12:15pm-2:30pm to conduct classes. The building will be closed to all other persons during these dates. UUUC will host closing retreat sleepovers at their church at the end of each age group time together.
Bridging Ceremony
Senior Bridging invites our graduating seniors to examine their faith and consider what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist as they transition from youth to young adults as they select and spend time with mentors from our congregation during their final RE year. Program begins in late fall 2018. Bridging Service will be Sunday, May 19, 2019 in which we as a congregation send our bridging seniors down the road into their adult lives.
Service Projects
Both our Middle School and High School youth will be involved in various social justice and community service projects throughout the year. In order for youth to participate in these field trips, they must fill out a permission slip. You can download and fill out tthe permission slip found at RE Field Trip Permission Slip. Or you can find a paper copy in the office. Sign and submit it to the DRE to keep on file.
