Are you decluttering? Spring Cleaning Downsizing? The LCUUC Fundraising Committee wants your treasures!

Our Virtual Rummage has been going strong. Since we began last spring, we have collected over $2,000 in online sales of donated items. Almost all this money comes from outside our church community.
We are selling items on eBay, the Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. We have sold a wide variety of items from sporting goods to furniture to collectibles and household items.
We need your donated items to sell!
Here is what you need to know:
To Donate:
1. Look at the list of suggestions to see if your items fits what we are looking for
2. Make sure your items are clean and in good condition. Think consignment store quality
3. Fill out a donation form (see above for the download) with details about the item
4. If you have a small item, bring it to church and put it in the marked shelf in the closet by the nursery
5. If you have a larger item or you are unsure if this is an item we can sell, send an email (with pictures if possible) to [email protected]
6. Contact Kristin Sanden or Bev Braasch with any questions
To Buy:
1. Locate an item on eBay, Craigslist, or Facebook
2. You will be able to pay using credit cards or PayPal
3. We no longer have items for display in the social hall
4. Coming soon....regularly scheduled emails with a list of items for sale and links on our website to eBay, Craigslist, and Facebook
To Help Out:
We could use another volunteer or two to help with this project. Here are ways you can make this a success
1. Help sell items online (we train!). You get to decide how much time you want to contribute by how many items you want to take on
2. Do you have a van or trailer? A strong back? You can help by transporting furniture or larger items from the donors house to Hartland (church or Kristin's house)
3. Take items that don't sell to Lake Country Caring/St. Vincent de Paul etc. (about once a month)
4. Donate items!!!!
MORE FAQS:
Can I Get My Item Back if It Doesn't Sell? For the most part, no. We are streamlining the process and logging the seller for each item and contacting everyone would make the process a lot more time-intensive. However, for items of high value or on a case-by-case basis we can consider doing this.
Do I Have to Bring My Big Items to Church? Not right away. If you have a kayak or bike or piece of furniture, simply take a good picture and email it to Kristin at [email protected]. We can talk to you about your transport/pick up preferences before we post the picture.
Can I Get a Receipt? Yes! We plan to provide a blank receipt upon request for you to complete with your donations and value
What if I Have an Item to Sell that Isn't on the List? Talk to one of us. It is hard to capture all possible items, and there can be exceptions to every category. Some items we may decide to try selling in the future as we see how it goes.
Can I Sell Items on My Own and Donate the Money? Of course! Some items may work better this way. Or you may wish to donate just a percentage of the sale to LCUUC. Let us know if you are doing this so we can make sure we are tracking our fundraising earnings
Tax Donation Forms are available: Just ask, and we will get one to you.
Partial list of what we can sell on eBay, Facebook, or Craigslist: |
ANTIQUES ~~ almost anything; rarity and condition determine value.
ART ~~ can be anything from a painting to hand blown glassware to ???; rarity and condition determine value.
BABY items ~~ varies greatly.
BOOKS ~~ due to the huge online used book market, many books don't bring a price that makes them worth the bother. Obvious exceptions are antique books, first editions, author signed books, etc. Rarity and condition determine value.
CAMERAS & accessories ~~ can vary greatly, with certain older SLR cameras and interchangeable lenses being in demand, EVEN IF NOT WORKING. Digital cameras vary considerably.
CELL PHONES, Tablets, & accessories ~~ demand is high, even for broken i-phones.
CLOTHING, shoes, & accessories ~~ LCUUC will not be accepting clothing for resale until we have reselling well in hand. If you have space to store clothing, we will be looking for better name items in good condition at a later date, same for shoes. Handbags will be accepted currently as long as they are better brands and in very good condition. This doesn't mean we'll only take Coach bags; other brands like Vera Bradley and Baggalini are strong sellers.
COLLECTIBLES ~~ a huge area of possibilities, as there are almost as many “collectible” items as there are people! This is one reason eBay is so popular ~~ it gives people world-wide selection and availability. A very few examples besides the usual coins and stamps ~~ post cards, animal figurines, antique dentures (!), old comic books, old toys and games, political buttons, watering cans (esp. copper/brass/old galvanized), sports memorabilia, old photographs, Depression glass, German beer steins, old sheet music, knives & swords, breed-specific cat & dog items, rotary phones, historical memorabilia, old Christmas ornaments, and on and on. There's even a market for old cereal boxes! Beanie Babies, however, seem to be a dime a dozen these days.
CONSUMER ELECTRONICS ~~ computers, stereo components, newer TVs ~~ varies greatly.
CRAFT ITEMS ~~ variable.
DOLLS & BEARS ~~ especially vintage ~~ rarity and condition determine value.
DVDs ~~ varies greatly, although there is still some demand for videotapes. Blank videotapes and even unopened cassette tapes can be sold, as can vinyl recordings.
HEALTH & BEAUTY ~~ better brands of unopened makeup, skin products, nail polish, cologne, etc.
HOME & GARDEN ~~ this covers a wide array of items, a few of which are:

JEWELRY & WATCHES ~~ Newer costume jewelry usually doesn't bring enough to bother with, due to the glut of items from China. Older costume jewelry is very desirable, esp. rhinestones, enameled copper, Aurora Borealis. Better quality jewelry (gold, silver, gemstones) enjoys a good market, sometimes for scrap value alone. In fact, BROKEN or otherwise damaged gold and silver can be sold for scrap on eBay. This includes gold dental crowns! Watches aren't good sellers now that so few people are wearing them. However, vintage watches and those made with precious metals are always popular.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS and supplies.
PET SUPPLIES ~~ Flexi leads, leather collars & leashes, cutesie doggie sweaters, etc.
SPORTING GOODS and supplies.
TOYS & HOBBIES ~~ vintage toys, the older the better, are in demand. Assorted hobby equipment ~~ varies.
VIDEO GAMES & CONSOLES ~~ new and vintage.
NOTE: We have an ongoing need for shipping boxes and packing materials. Bubble wrap, air pillows, and used padded envelopes are especially needed.
